My Love

Romans 13:8
Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.

To all my readers, some may be wondering where I have been, and the answer is trying to figure things out under the Juniper tree.

Honestly, there was a shift around November, and I became more frustrated in certain areas of my life, but I know it all stems from the trauma of trying to understand why Joshua was gone. And one of the things that were tried and tested was my relationships. We all deal with trauma differently, and as my grief counsellor said to me, it is okay to leave the past in the past and at times, this can happen in certain relationships.

Since Joshua’s death, I have been learning what healthy Biblical love and boundaries look like. Although this can be challenging, I have come to understand that one must respect oneself and have a deeper respect for others. But it’s in that uncomfortableness that I have leaned more on.

  Proverbs 4:23
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

When Joshua died, I was wounded, and I didn’t even realize it unnoticeably. I left the most precious part of me exposed, but thank God for the blood of Jesus and the breastplate of righteousness.

Ephesians 6:13-17
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.[a] 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.[b] 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

As a believer, I have a healthy fear and reverence for God because he is the creator and sustainer of everything. Luke 23:44-47 By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. 45 The light from the sun was gone. And suddenly, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn down the middle. 46 Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last.47 When the Roman officer overseeing the execution saw what had happened, he worshiped God and said, “Surely this man was innocent.”

We have this respect and adoration for what Jesus did for us, and this is something that we should apply to our earthly relationship. Because man was made in the image of God “Genesis 1:27″.And while we give no one the place that God (El Shaddai ) holds in our Hearts, God has been teaching me that for Iron to sharpen Iron, there has to be a healthy genuineness when imparting into another life. Walking this out looked like alone time for me to understand exactly what I required at that moment, but to be truthful, it was me learning what guarding my heart should look like, which entailed becoming more private with more knowledge and understanding that once a thing is spoken, I can not be taken back, creating a calmer environment and what I like to call my safe space.

I also made minor home adjustments, repainting my washroom and kitchen and adding more colour to the rooms to make them feel more lovely. Our homes should be our safe places where we feel a sense of rest. God even advised me to start being intentional with my declarations about my home-speaking life and that which concerns my family and me based on his word spoken in Deuteronomy 28:13: we are head and not the tail, and we will always be on top and never at the bottom—building my home full of love, peace, and joy. I would encourage you all to do the same, speak your life and ask God to help you in everything that pertains to your life. He is faithful, loving and compassionate. Our Father is happy to extend his right hand to the children he loves so endlessly.

Proverbs 14:1
A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.

While the passage states hands, God also wants us to build our homes with words, literally speaking them into existence. Hebrews 11:1-2 Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.

Prayer works and can shift atmospheres while creating and sustaining all things. I mean, look at Abraham’s life after God spoke over him. Out of one man came many. This is why exercising your faith is necessary, and my prayer is that God would remind us each morning that even if we have faith the size of a mustard seed, we can still see mountains move.

Healthy boundaries, friendship and safe places can be created and sustained by God’s word this week’s word. I pray that every person reading this week’s post will go deeper, asking God for a sweet revelation of who he is and the help they feel is required to heal in this season of grief or whatever trial they may be facing. Blow like wind over them, Lord, depositing what you can give. Malachi 4:2: “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. Lord, your healing and splendour glory pass over us in Jesus’ name.
