What Peace means to you

If I were to ask you what Peace means to you in one with one word what would you say?

Philippians 4:4-8
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I’ve been praying for God’s will to be done in my life, being honest with Him even to the point of tears. I’ve told Him that I’m weak and no longer want to handle certain areas of my life on my own. The truth is, He never wanted me to do it on my own in the first place, but I was too blinded to see that—not from grief, but from my flesh. I’ve been robbing myself of the peace that comes from acknowledging Him.

Philippians 4:6-7 says:
“6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

As I reflected on this verse, I realized that even though I’ve been praying, I still focused on my own will instead of surrendering to His. I was missing out on the peace that His presence offers. What stood out to me was when the scripture tells us what we should focus on: Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

To be completely honest, I had to ask myself: Am I truly leaning on God’s understanding, or am I letting grief dictate my thoughts? The answer was clear—I was allowing grief to cloud my focus instead of seeking what is pure, true, and honourable through God’s eyes. Spending time with God isn’t just about being with Him; it’s about allowing Him to reveal the things we’re missing. So, when I asked myself what peace means to me, the answer was simple: His presence. Father, thank You for drawing me closer this morning and reminding me that time spent with you is insightful, refreshing and life-changing. I pray in the name of Jesus that You touch the minds of Your people today, bringing clarity, stillness, and creativity, allowing us to see and hear You in ways we never have before. Show us how to meditate on Your Word, finding what is true, honest, just, pure, and loving. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
