I woke up this morning feeling discouraged, as this month marks 5 years and Joshua’s killers still have not been caught. But as I was getting ready for my day, I heard God say, “The Seed of Christ,” and that He wants me to write about the seed that was placed in Mary’s womb, who is the Mother of our Lord and Savior.
Rejoice because what you are waiting in shall come to pass.
Before Jesus came, God answered the prayers of Mary’s cousin Elizabeth through her husband Zacharias and advised him that he would have a baby. Scripture says that they were stricken in years, which means old, and that his wife was barren. In verse 18, it reads: “And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. 19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. 20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.”
Sometimes in seasons of waiting, it seems like God has forgotten us, but I want to encourage you that God is never late. Just when it seems like all hope is lost, He sends forth His Word, and not only will He send forth His Word, He sends forth His promise.
As we continue reading Luke chapter one, we will see that God not only visited Elizabeth with a blessing, but He also visited Mary with favor. And through Mary, God would release the Seed of Christ:
“And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
Zacharias, Elizabeth, and Mary were just all living their lives, believing God for His faithfulness, and one day the answer that they had been waiting for came. If I was to say that I am not upset that it is taking this long to have these men arrested, I would be lying. But I have to continue to wait on the Lord and trust that this case will be closed, not for my family, but Joshua. I know that Joshua wants his killers caught, not only for him, but to make sure that no one experiences what his family is going through.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I am asking You to look not only on me but Your people and bless us with a blessing and also the answers that we have been waiting for. When You blessed Mary with the seed of Christ, You changed the trajectory of our lives, giving us a never-ending hope. Lord, release the clues needed on Joshua’s case, that this September doesn’t end like the four before, in Jesus’ mighty name.
You might not be waiting on a case to be solved, but whatever it is that you are waiting on, read the Scripture, put on strength, remembering that God answers prayers.
