Check-in

Monday March 16th 2:45pm

Philippians 2:19
“But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.”

There is this song that I often listen to called “Lost in Hallelujah,” and that is where I am in this stage of grief. It’s the safest place I find. Between the kids and healing, I have to stay in His presence because anything outside of it would be torment. 4 and a half years into life without Joshua sounds crazy. I said to his brother the other day as we drove, this September will make 5 years.

When I asked God what to write, He gave me the word “Check-in,” and I know someone out there needs this word, but I also need your response. I wish there was a place that us parents could connect on a regular basis because we need each other, we need the love and support and community knowing we can speak to each other. The Apostle Paul often wrote letters to communities that he spent time with there to stay in touch because he knows the weight of life and that encouragement is needed.

2 Corinthians 11:28 New Living Translation
Then, besides all this, I have the daily burden of my concern for all the churches.

Paul faced many hardships in his life with Christ and knew that we as people would face them too. So he wrote messages and sent them to God’s beloved people, reminding them that God sees and knows and is still the God of Moses that will not only hear you but send relief even when it feels like all hope is lost. There is a verse that I held tight within the first few days of Joshua passing, and it is below.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9
New English Translation
8 We are experiencing trouble on every side, but are not crushed; we are perplexed, but not driven to despair;
9 we are persecuted, but not abandoned; we are knocked down, but not destroyed,

I pray that as you read this you will know that you are loved, seen, and most of all heard even in your silence when all you have is tears. Check-ins are necessary because we are all going through something that no one knows about.

So my closing question is how are you? And is there anything that you need prayer for? I am asking because I know what it feels like to feel like you are all alone. Write even if it’s a private message knowing that I will respond.

I pray that this post helps someone out there understand that this road of healing cannot be done alone.
