This morning while doing my morning devotional it spoke about God’s promises, but also when Mary his mother was told that she would carry our Savior King Jesus. While reading something stood out to me; It was what she spoke after she received the news while visiting her cousin Elizabeth who we all know to be the mother our John the Baptist. In Luke 1:42-43 “Elizabeth gave a glad cry and exclaimed to Mary, “God has blessed you above all women, and your child is blessed. 43 Why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should visit me?
As I was typing I heard the Lord say “The Lord is about to visit you receive that word and stand firm knowing that God is about to show you great and mighty things (Jeremiah 33:3).
After hearing Elizabeth speak those words Mary praise God by saying “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One is holy, and he has done great things for me (Luke 1:46-49)
Grief is such a weird subject to discuss reason being many experiences it very differently. Where one might be strong another might need some help and there is nothing wrong with that because with or without grief I pray in the name of Jesus that we would come to terms that we all need each other. In 1 Corinthians 12, the Apostle Paul begins to share his teaching on the Spiritual Gifts that God has deposited in every one of us. Did you know that you have gifts that God placed on the inside of you before you were born?
2 Corinthians 4:7
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
One of my gifts is documenting what the Lord wants his children to know week after week. Some may call it a blogger or even Author I just like to refer to it as doing the will of the Lord. Either way my writing is a gift that God has gifted me. Being able to hear the voice of God and then put it into context is not easy but I give all credit to the Holy one that has given me the ability to do this in the hardest season of my life. But as scripture says in Romans 8:31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? and the answer is No one.
Romans 8:28
And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Through the power of God, I was able to take a devasting situation and create a beautiful love story of the Gospel can bring can sustain one’s life even in sad times. The Holy Spirit gives me strength and through that, I can run this race with endurance Hebrews 1 fixing my eyes on the finisher of my faith Hebrews 12:2. This Blog keeps Joshua’s memory alive because I am to share the love that God has poured out to me that I was given to him. There is a saying that I heard last year it says that Grief is Love with nowhere to go and what the Lord has taught me is Love is not Bound and cant be bound because Love is God.
1 John 4:7-9
7 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
The gift of writing that God has given me is also a clear demonstration of what Jesus spoke when he said in John 15:5 when he spoke “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
After pausing for a few moments, I asked God is there anything else that you want me to share and he responded by asking me “Why are Gifts important?
1 Corinthians 12:4-7
4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. 5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. 6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.
In verse 7 it states very clearly that our Spiritual Gifts are given to us so that we can help each other. One might say that they do not know what their gift is and that is fine because I didn’t know either until I began to read my Bible and learn from the Holy Spirit who God was calling me to be. Also and I feel that this needs to be addressed we are not to limit ourselves when discovering, one can have more than one gift. Before discovering that I was born to write with Authority I knew that I was called to encourage people or what the Bible calls the Gift of “Exhortation”. I can remember being as young as 15 talking with my friends and always hearing from them “You are such as great encourager but never did I think anything of it. But I give God the Glory and praise to know that he had people speaking into my life without knowing that years later he would leave the ninety-nine to come to get the one “Matthew 18:12.
I like to think of us as family, and I want you guys to know that we are not only in dire need of each other, but also want to demonstrate good stewardship of what God has placed on the inside of us without hesitation. I am going to list a few Gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:8-11 and want you to see if any of them sound like you. If not that’s fine please do not get discouraged as I said before every person has them and if you lean on the Mighty One King Jesus and come under the submission of the Holy Spirit he can help you develop them in a way that you never imagined possible.
List of Gifts
1 Corinthians 12:8 To one person the spirit gives the ability to give wise advice, to another the same spirit give a message of special knowledge
1 Corinthians 12:9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing
I feel led to talk about the second gift. Did you know that some have the gift of Healing? Matthew 9:20-22 reads 20 Just then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, 21 for she thought, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.”22 Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment.
One might say well that’s because it was done by Jesus; Children of God that is a lie from the pits of hell; once you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior the Same spirit that split the red sea Exodus 14:21, the same spirit that Elijah used by faith when he called down fire in 1 Kings 18:38 and the same spirit that raised Lazarus from the dead John 11:43–44 is that same spirit that was in Jesus and is now in us. When teaching I always like to direct my readers back to the direct source which is the word of God. Because I need you to see that it is not my word but God’s, but also that you can have the word for yourself when in need this is how we learn and grow to stand in truth when the wicked one comes speaking lies.
Matthew 17:20
20 “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.
By faith as little as a mustard seed we can tell a mountain to move but check out another great truth below.
John 14:12
12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
I pray that our loving gift-giving father will fill you with joy as he draws us closer to him giving us a deeper revelation of who he is and why it is so important for us to have a relationship with his son King Jesus.
Grief is a difficult journey but God does not want it to be a lonely one for us. Mary said “For the Mighty One is holy, and he has done great things for me. I want all of us to discover at least 2 of our spiritual gifts. While taking a break I discovered this page on Instagram called “Elvisshares” and one of his posts was titled “How to identify Spiritual Gifts. Look at God leading me to another source that I could use for today’s timely word, isn’t he faithful? Psalms 46:1 God is a refugee and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. ElvisShares, List questions that I want you to read over while you ask the Holy Spirit to help you discover more about yourself. Remember to go back and read 1 Corinthians 12 to get the word in you and see the gifts in full while getting a better understanding of what it means and why they are important.
- What do I enjoy doing?
- What is the Holy Spirit Speaking to me at this moment?
- In what way can I use this gift to serve God?
- What gifts do others see operating in me and where can they be used best?
Remember to read out loud 1 Corinthians 12. Ask God to show you what are your gifts and pray that he would help you develop them please do not get frustrated if the answers do been endured. Please feel free to submit any questions about this week’s post I am happy to assist in any way possible. I would love to hear what the Lord spoke to you while doing this week’s task while you discovered something new about yourself.
Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, 2 Corinthians 10:5 says Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. I bind the spirit of confusion and loose the spirit of clarity. Matthew 22:14 says For many are called, but few are chosen, thank you Lord for choosing us. I speak life and life more abundantly over every person reading this and pray in the of Jesus that you continue to will draw us out of the snare of the enemy. Hide us as it says in Psalm 91 under the shadow of the Most high. I put you in remembrance of the words that you spoke in Jeremiah 1:5-6 “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”6 “O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” I pray that no one will feel inadequate for the task you have called them to do I seal this prayer in the precious name of Jesus Christ.
