1 Corinthians 14:3
But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them.
I was on Instagram last night and saw that one of Joshua’s high school friends graduated from nursing school. As I congratulated her, she said that he missed him and knew that he would be proud of her and told her before his passing that she would be a really good nurse. It’s moments like this that leave me in tears, but I have to be strong not only for my kids but the ones who will come after them. I have to be here to tell my grandchildren that God is stronger than anything that will come against them and that when they feel like they can not hang on anymore, this is when they need to open their mouths and praise him, for he is a wonderful strong tower that they can run to and abide in no matter the circumstance.
The word Prophesies is taken from PROPH’ECY, noun [Gr. to foretell, before and to tell. This ought to be written prophesy.
1. A foretelling; prediction; a declaration of something to come. As God only knows future events with certainty, no being but God or some person informed by him, can utter a real prophecy The prophecies recorded in Scripture, when fulfilled, afford most convincing evidence of the divine original of the Scriptures, as those who uttered the prophecies could not have foreknown the events predicted without supernatural instruction. 2 Peter 1:19.
Despite what some believe, the office of the prophet is alive and well. For those who do not know what a prophet is, to keep it simple, they are people used by God to deliver a direct message. God still has his people here doing the work that he has called them to.
1 Corinthians 14:3-4
But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them. 4 A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.
We, the people, are the church, and when hurting or dealing with disappointment, God will send someone with a word of encouragement. It might not come from who we expected, but he will always send his word forth. Hold on, I hear the Lord speak; better days are coming and not just better days; I am rewriting the story. Yesterday, my best friend was encouraging me to continue to be who God has called me to be and allow myself to become like water without restriction by the power of the Holy Spirit, and I would like you all to do the same. When stuck or you start to feel down, go back to the word of God, grabbing a verse that speaks to your current situation and prophesying his word over your life, remembering what was spoken in Romans 8:31. What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?
Stand no matter what your facing looks like without doubt, trusting that God has already worked it out.
