Who Is in Your Delivery Room?

Who Is in Your Delivery Room?

John 16:21
A woman, when she is in travail, has sorrow, because her hour has come; but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembers no more the anguish, for joy that a child is born into the world.

As a mother, one of the most important decisions we ever make is who we take into the delivery room.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You. I ask that You would breathe on this page as we close out this year. Open our hearts and our minds to truly see what it is You are speaking. Sometimes we hear a word and immediately jump off the deep end, reacting instead of listening. But teach us to hear Your voice clearly and to make the changes that will shift the very things we have been asking You to move. Help us not just to desire alignment, but to walk in it according to what was spoken over us before we were ever placed in our parents’ arms.

Ephesians 1:3–6 (The Message)
How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.

Birthing anything naturally is never easy, but the Word of God teaches us that what happens in the natural is first established in the spiritual. But did we ever stop to think about what it takes to get here?

Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” And I hear the Lord say, tell My children to hold their faith.

When giving birth, no mother allows anyone into that room who will discourage her, sow seeds of discord, or speak things that are not true. We desire those who can hold space for what God is about to bring into fruition those who have the insight to speak life and give praise to God for what He has already done.

Just as Scripture says in Jeremiah 1:5“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

If God set us apart before we were born, what makes you think He hasn’t already spoken who should be the ones to hold your feet, wipe your tears, and whisper words of encouragement in your ear as you birth one of your greatest blessings?

We sometimes view shifts as discomfort, but I want to challenge that way of thinking with this word:

Isaiah 54:1
“Sing, O childless woman, you who have never given birth!
Break into loud and joyful song, you who have never been in labor.
For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband,” says the Lord.

As this year comes to an end, close this chapter focusing on where you are going and not on what has already happened. Understand that it’s not how long it took to give birth, but who held your hand, what was spoken over you, and the life that came out of it. God want us to understand this: every choice we make, something will be birthed out of it. Wisdom I hear the Lord speak. Privacy and strength are what we should all be praying for in this season. Because eyes have not seen and ears have not heard what is about to take place.

This word would not have been birthed onto this website if it were not for my sister in Christ, Kace, speaking the word “Who’s in your delivery room?” into my life this morning. Who we are connected to matters because the voices around us can determine the ease of our push. I’m grateful to God for divine connections that bring clarity, wisdom, and confirmation at the right time.

Happy New Year, #Push
